THE MISSING GENERATION reckons with losing part of an entire generation of gay and transgender people to AIDS in the 1980s and 1990s. This powerful work features full-throttle dance by a multi-generational ensemble, luscious partnering, intimate storytelling and theater. Based on interviews with survivors of the early AIDS epidemic, award-winning transgender choreographer Sean Dorsey created the work over a two-year period, doing archival research and hosting Community Residencies in 6 cities across the US. THE MISSING GENERATION is a new work co-commissioned by Dance Place. Funded in part by the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Dance Project, the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Performance Network Creation Fund and Performance Residency Program.
