Company:
SummerStage & Dance Films Association
Don't miss a FREE screening of Lincoln Center at the Movies: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater on August 16, 2017 at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park, part of City Parks Foundation's SummerStage, in association with Dance Films Association. Doors will open at 7PM, and the film will begin at 8PM.
The documentary was directed by Matthew Diamond and features four audience favorites and behind the scenes interviews with members of the esteemed dance company. The electrifying modern dance program includes Wayne McGregor’s sumptuous Chroma with a score by Jack White and Joby Talbot; Ronald K. Brown’s powerful Grace, with music by Duke Ellington, Roy Davis Jr., and Fela Kuti; Robert Battle’s humorous, high-flying Takademe; and Alvin Ailey’s beloved Revelations – “one of the great works of the human spirit” (The New York Times) – that will rock your soul.
The public is invited to participate in a pre-show Revelations dance workshop with Alvin Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs, beginning at 6PM. All ages are encouraged to come out to the park early to enjoy this family-friendly workshop. The screening is free and open to the public, but RSVP is required to participate in the workshop: RSVP@CityParksFoundation.org
