BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange Presents A Helix Queer Performance Network Event:

2016 SUBMERGE FESTIVAL: will you?
Curated by Naimonu James

November 6 - 13, 2016

Featuring performances by Jaamil Olawale Kosoko, Taja Lindley, Malik Nashad Sharpe, Mette LouLou von Kohl, Coda Wei, Mieke D and Katherine Marie, a reading of "Permitted" by Kirya Traber, a pop-up installation by the Free Black Women's Library, digital projections by Salome Asega and a party by Femmepremacy

A Note from the Curator:

What does the journey to healing look like? Never healed, always in the process of healing, right? If you see enough people performing Black Joy and Black Love and Black Vulnerabilty and Black Subjectivites and BLACK AND QUEER for you will you be moved? Will you be able to access self-love just a bit easier? Will you remember to light that candle and thank your ancestors? Will you turn toward your lover one more time? Will you finally turn toward yourself? Will you refuse that white man? His money? His power? (Lord.) Will you start doing some of your own work and taking care of your own mess? Will you?

Submerge is funded in large part by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
