Celebrated Middle Eastern dancer/teacher Anahid Sofian celebrates the 35th anniversary of Anahid Sofian Dance Company with a gala season of 25+ dancers and musicians joined by special guests Nourhan Sharif, The Sera Solstice Ensemble, Carlos Fittante & Robin Gilbert, and live music by the Souren Baronian Music Ensemble.
Dances include traditional as well as contemporary interpretations of styles from Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, Persia, Armenia, Greece and Uzbekistan, as well as numerous renditions of Danse Orientale, known in the West as belly dancing.
Live music will be performed on clarinet, oud, kanoon, violin, kaval, and percussion instruments.
June 28 at 8 PM and June 29 at 3 PM at MMAC, 248 West 60th Street.
