Ailey Experience NYC is designed to embody the diversity of the Ailey dancer through training in a wide variety of dance techniques while introducing young dancers to the exciting world of performance in a non-competitive environment. Participants can choose between a one-week or two week-experience July 28–August 1 and August 4–8.
Dancers of all levels ages 8–21 are invited to the home of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater to train with world-renowned Ailey instructors, former Ailey dancers, and professional New York City choreographers for an intensive full of daily technique classes. Participants will also learn original choreography throughout each week, culminating in a final showcase for friends and family on Friday.
Students will learn ballet, contemporary, Horton, jazz, hip hop, West African dance, and more in addition to the rich history of Alvin Ailey’s signature style and how he changed the perception of American dance.
