(New York) November 20, 2013 – The Ailey Extension offers fans nationwide the chance to take the magic of dance from the stage to the studio with a FREE class at Ailey’s home – The Joan Weill Center for Dance. This special “Ticket to Dance” promotion offers a complimentary Ailey Extension class with a ticket stub from any Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater or Ailey II performance around the nation, including the Company’s New York City Center season running December 4th –  January 5th

Fans can get moving like Ailey dancers. Founded on the idea of “Real Classes for Real People;” the Ailey Extension has something to offer for everyone. With class offerings just as vast as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s repertory, Ailey Extension instructors present  visitors the opportunity to experience over 25 dance and fitness techniques from around the world, including  Masala Bhangra, Hip Hop, Salsa, Capoeira, Samba, Zumba, Yoga, Bellydance, Jazz, and more. Attendees can experience the same excitement the dancers feel when they perform techniques such as Horton, which can be seen in Alvin Ailey’s American masterpiece, Revelations, and other diverse repertory, including Ballet classes which reflect choreography in multi award-winning British choreographer Wayne McGregor’s company premiere, Chroma; and West African which mirrors movements found in celebrated choreographer Ronald K. Brown’s  Four Corners.
