Alastair Macaulay, esteemed former chief dance critic of The New York Times, returns to discuss the artistry of one of America’s most venerated choreographers, Merce Cunningham, concentrating on Cunningham’s solos.

Cori Kresge (Scramble, Doubles, Interscape), Vanessa Knouse (Suite for Five, Roaratorio, Trackers) and Victor Lozano (Rune, Enter, SRWDSPCR, Scenario) danced these solos in Los Angeles on April 16 on the historic Night of 100 Solos in honor of Merce Cunningham’s birthday. Our event offers an opportunity to see the solos danced in New York City. In addition, Brandon Collwes, long time member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, dances the solo created for him ten years ago in Merce Cunningham’s final work Nearly Ninety (2009). Brandon also dances another solo from Suite for Five.

A panel discussion follows the performances.
