This June, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater returns to BAM with a program celebrating the company’s past, present, and future.
For the first time in over 15 years, Judith Jamison’s Emmy Award–winning Hymn returns to the stage. Set to a libretto by acclaimed playwright Anna Deavere Smith (Fires in the Mirror: Crown Heights, Brooklyn and Other Identities), Jamison’s electrifying tribute to Alvin Ailey blends soaring ensemble choreography with intimate storytelling to honor Ailey’s contributions to dance and humanity.
Closing out the program are Medhi Walerski’s virtuosic Blink of an Eye and Alvin Ailey’s spellbinding classic Revelations.
