The Playground NYC allows dancers to experience various choreographic styles and ideas, engage with a new community of dancers, and gather resourceful information and inspiration from the array of choreographers involved. In turn, established choreographers are paid for their creative investigations, are given free space to explore new movement with professional dancers, and are provided with the opportunity to establish relationships with new dancers and fellow choreographers.

Class Description:

Annie's class aims to help dancers unlock their physical potential using imagery and sensation, while giving them tools for efficiency of effort and self-treatment for injury.

Her movement research lies in the intersection between extreme physicality and healing; In the conflict between the need for art to challenge and destroy and the simultaneous healing and uniting power of movement.

Annie's class guides us through a sensorial, and anatomic research of the body, which bridges the gap between somatics and virtuosic physicality. She explores the many inherent pathways, relationships, and flow within each of us; We will move in order to sense and feel ourselves better. We will listen to our habits and attempt to break them. We will sweat, and collapse, and shake, and we will discover and refresh ourselves through play.
