Arthur Aviles Typical Theatre Presents "Homage!"
Arthur Aviles Typical Theatre
Renowned choreographer and BAAD! Artistic Director Arthur Avilés unearths his choreography and presents them for the first time in one evening. Avilés’ homage to influential choreographers livens the stage with a modern interpretation reflective of our rich queer and intersectional history.
The program includes:
- Untitled #1 after Martha Graham
- Untitled #2 after Jose Limon
- Puerto Rican Faggot from the South Bronx Steals Precious Object from Giuliani’s East Village
- (Untitled #3 after Loïe Fuller by way of Jody Sperling)
The evening will feature performances by Johnnie Cruise Mercer, Josiah Vasquez, Priscilla Marrero, and Hunter Sturgis, with live drum accompaniment by Mobéy Lola Irizarry. Costumes are recreated by Liz Prince, based on designs from the original presentations.
Note: BAAD! All attendees must provide full proof of vaccination (2 doses of Pfizer/Moderna, or 1 dose of Johnson & Johnson) before entry.
Thursday, October 27th 2022 @ 8pm - 10:30pm
