SOFIA ENGELMAN + EM PAPINEAU are movement educators, life partners, and choreographic collaborators based in Lenapehoking // Brooklyn. Their current focuses include structural transparency (in performance and institutions alike), accessibility, queering, relationality, and community care. Sofia + Em have held residencies at College of the Atlantic, The Floor on Atlantic, The Croft, Mana Contemporary, The Living Room, Ponderosa, Dance Complex, MOtiVE Brooklyn, and School for Contemporary Dance & Thought and have performed at Judson Church, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, FRESH Festival, EstroGenius Festival, Providence Movement Festival, Queer Spectra, Dancing Queerly, Green Street Studios, Harvard University, BAAD!, and various music venues. Sofia + Em were Co-Directors of freeskewl (2020-2022), an experimental hybrid platform for pedagogy, performance, and conversation during the height of the COVID pandemic. @emandsofia
