AUDITION NOTICE
for
EINSTEIN ON THE BEACH
and
DANCE
by
LUCINDA CHILDS
Auditions will be held to cast the male and female dance ensemble for a new production of Philip Glass and Robert Wilson's contemporary opera, Einstein on the Beach with choreography by Lucinda Childs. The new production is a project of the New York City Opera and a consortium of international opera companies. The period of the engagement is September 8 through November 21, 2009 in Purchase, NY and New York City and April through July 2010 in Europe.
The same dance ensemble will perform Lucinda Childs' full length work, Dance at various performance engagements in North America from May 2009 through July 2009 and January through March 2010 in North America. Dance is being reconstructed as a joint project of The Yard and the Fisher Center for the Arts at Bard College under the direction of Lucinda Childs.
Dancers must have experience with modern dance and be available for the ENTIRE periods of BOTH Einstein on the Beach and Dance. No prior touring experience is required but some professional experience is preferred and acting skills are a plus.
AUDITION SCHEDULE: Dance auditions for men and women will be held in New York City as follows:
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2008
9:00 AM TO 1:00 PM: Women's audition
1:00 PM to 5:00 PM: Men's audition
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 4 AND FRIDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2008
9:00 AM - 11:00 AM: Call backs with Lucinda Childs
11:00 AM - 6:00 PM: Call backs with Robert Wilson and Philip Glass
DANCERS SELECTED FOR THE CALL BACKS MUST BE AVAILABLE TO RETURN BOTH DAYS FOR CALLBACKS ON DECEMBER 4TH AND 5TH.
