Auditions for Graham II and Full-time Programs THIS Saturday
All auditions will at 55 Bethune Street
- 21 full-time students have gone on to dance with the Martha Graham Dance Company both on tour and in the New York season
- All 31 students enrolled in the Teacher Training Program have become successful teachers of the Graham Technique
- Many students from full-time programs have gone on to join dance companies around the world, and have created their own dance companies
90% of the current Martha Graham Dance Company dancers trained at the Martha Graham School.
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM
A two-year, full-time program leading to a Certificate of Completion. The Professional Training Program provides in-depth studies at professional standards in Martha Graham Technique, repertory, composition, history, music, pedagogy, acting, and performance. The Professional Training Program is for dancers with demonstrated professional potential. Admission is by audition or faculty recommendation only.
TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM
A one year, full-time program for advanced and professional level students wishing to prepare for careers in dance education. The program focuses on methodology, teaching approaches of the Martha Graham Technique, and an overview of dance education in the public school system.
GRAHAM II
Graham II is composed of an elite group of full-time advanced students at the Martha Graham School. Directed by former Martha Graham Dance Company Principal Virginie Mecene, Graham II performs works by Martha Graham and others. Recent choreographers include Robert Battle, Pascal Rioult, Kun-Yang Lin, Virginie Mecene, Pearl Lang, Ethel Winter, Blakeley White-McGuire. Graham II performs in public schools around NYC with an aim to teach students about the repertory and history of Martha Graham. Graham II tours on both a national and international level, and has an annual New York season of it's own. While in Graham II, dancers may be given the opportunity to apprentice with the Martha Graham Dance Company.
