Azul Dance Theatre Presents VISION
Azul Dance Theatre
Vision investigates one's self-fight against fear and insecurity by projecting psychological images and ghostly illusions into contemporary dance. Founded by Artistic Director Yuki Hasegawa, Azul Dance Theatre is a collective of NY based contemporary dance artists.
Azul Dance Theatre creates dances that convey the invisible flow of energy known as “Chi” in Eastern philosophy to express the sensitive relationship between individual self and cosmic force. Azul's work has been recognized for creating works influenced by traditional Japanese culture, but remain “vividly contemporary in feel.”
Since 2004, Azul Dance Theatre's works have been presented at venues such as Ailey Citigroup Theater, 92nd Street Y, DiCapo Opera Theater, Salvatore Capezio Theater, Dixon Place, Theater for the New City and Green Space.
Azul Dance Theatre’s residency at BMCC Tribeca PAC is part of the CUNY Dance Initiative (CDI), which is supported by The Mertz Gilmore Foundation, New York Community Trust, Howard Gilman Foundation, the Jerome Robbins Foundation, and the Harkness Foundation for Dance.
