BAAND Together Dance Festival: Dancing with Ailey on the Plaza! (FREE)
Company:
Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts
Become part of the legacy! Join Amos Machanic, Ailey Arts In Education Teaching Artist and former member of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, in a workshop that explores the movement style, energy, and emotion found in the dance, Love Stories, a collaboration among Artistic Director Emerita Judith Jamison, choreographer Rennie Harris, and Artistic Director Robert Battle.
Inspired by the African concept of “Sankofa”, which teaches that “we don’t know where we’re going unless we know where we have been,” this extraordinary ballet celebrates the traditions of African Americans, modern dance and the rich heritage of Alvin Ailey.
This FREE workshop is a part of the BAAND Together Dance Festival at Lincoln Center's Summer for the City and will be led by Alvin Ailey teaching artists and is designed for all ages.
WHEN: Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 5:00–6:00 pm.
PRICE: General Admission only, first-come first-served. Advance reservations are not available for this event; just show up!
"I believe that the dance came from the people and that it should always be delivered back to the people."
— Alvin Ailey
