Brooklyn, NY/Sep 22, 2014—On June 12, 1984, Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch made its New York debut at BAM. “The word was out, the place was mobbed,” wrote Anna Kisselgoff in The New York Times. “Pina Bausch, from West Germany, is the most talked-about choreographer in Europe and it was obvious that her reputation had preceded her….” This season, the world renowned company returns to the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House to celebrate the 30th anniversary of that historic debut performance with one of Bausch’s greatest works, Kontakthof.
