BIG Birthdays: The Aught Years / Fridays at Noon turns 30!
This year, 92Y's weekly series featuring new choreography and mixed-bill performances, Fridays at Noon, reaches its 30th birthday. To celebrate, we invite other companies celebrating major birthdays -- Dixon Place, the Field and Performance Mix (all 30th birthdays) and the Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center (40th) -- to perform quintessential dance works that summarize their histories and the ways in which these choreographies define their vision. The companies' leaders -- Karen Bernard (Performance Mix), Jennifer Wright Cook (The Field), Ellie Covan (Dixon Place), and Alex Smith, Jr. (Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center) -- discuss their experiences at the helm and how their companies have successfully persevered and raised awareness of dance, while raising funds and and a new generation of dance makers.
