7:00 pm Bollywood music by Falu
8:00 pm Afro-Puerto Rican and Dominican dance workshop and performance by Legacy Women
An impressive lineup of artist-activists convene to explore the far-reaching social, political, and expressive powers of oral and visual tradition. Here, wordsmiths share the stage with musicians and dancers to uncover how poetry, song, movement, and storytelling can unleash personal truths, construct identity, and fundamentally alter historic narratives.
Boro-Linc is bringing La Casita to Staten Island, Queens, Brooklyn, and Lower Manhattan in a four-week series offering urban poetry, spoken word, and music and dance expressions. The La Casita series presents diverse artistic works representing traditions from Harlem, the South Bronx, Latin America, the African Diaspora, the Balkans, South Asia, and beyond. Each event features an interactive dance workshop complementing the day’s performances.
Boro-Linc: La Casita is curated by Claudia Norman.
