Brooklyn Ballet Presents Soft Power

Company:
Brooklyn Ballet
Celebrating more than two decades of interdisciplinary dance, Brooklyn Ballet returns with Soft Power, an evening of four world premieres that brings classical ballet and street dance into powerful conversation. Founder and Artistic Director Lynn Parkerson premieres sub-binary, a work built around real-time improvisation and live music, tracing shifting landscapes of contrast and connection.
Guest choreographers Alexis Diggs, Michael “Big Mike” Fields, and Alexis Zanety each contribute new works exploring resilience, memory, grief, and identity. Performed by artists whose backgrounds span contemporary dance, street styles, and international classical training, the program moves between precision and freestyle, personal narrative and collective expression. Together, the program positions contrast as creative catalyst, revealing how structure and spontaneity can coexist within a single physical landscape.
