ADG honors choreographer Jean Erdman and her life-long collaboration with mythologist
Joseph Campbell
Featuring recreations of Erdman's classic repertory and works by contemporary choreographers, with guest artist Christine Dakin performing Erdman's "The Transformations of Medusa," staged by Nancy Allison, to celebrate the legacy of dancer/ choreographer/ avant-garde theater director Jean Erdman now in her 100th year.
Erdman explored archetypal themes in dance and theater works, in collaboration with her life-long partner, husband, writer/mythologist Joseph Campbell, forming one of the dance world's most inspiring artistic relationships.
The program features live performance of Erdman's rarely-seen 1942 solo.The Transformations of Medusa, a stage-to-screen adaptation of her 1948 work Hamadryad by Nancy Allison and Paul Allman, selected new work inspired by myth, and panel discussion by distinguished guests (TBA)who participated in Ms. Erdman's work over six decades.

What do we mean by the mythic dimension in dance?
Looking for works that cross from the personal to the transversal through an exploration of original organic forms. We accept new and historic works.
Maximum: 7 minute solos, maximum: 12 minute group pieces.
