Don’t miss this week’s lineup of performances, as Sara Juli and Claire Porter take over The Yard!  Juli and Porter are in their fourth year of creating and performing dances together as a “dynamic, hilarious pair” (The Dance Enthusiast). These are arguably two of the funniest choreographer-performers to both grace and gently provoke the American stage.

Thursday night, come see Sara Juli’s Tense Vagina: an actual diagnosis, a hysterical dance comedy work about motherhood — its beauty, challenges, isolation, comedy, and influence on the human experience. Tense Vagina focuses on the seldom-discussed and taboo aspects of motherhood, such as loss of bladder control, libido, tears, monotony, loneliness, and dildos. The narrative is anchored in sharing the physical therapy Juli received at The Pelvic Floor Rehab Center of New England for her treatment of post-childbirth urinary incontinence. Not appropriate for children due to adult language, content, and dildos.

"Like a standup routine performed in a supine position while doing Kegel exercises." —The New Yorker

On Saturday, Juli is joined on stage by Claire Porter for The Lectern: rule by rule by rule. A riot of rules, The Lectern overturns our everyday protocols, manners, and laws, exposing them for their freedoms, limitations, and silliness. From a graduation day lecture to fashion faux pas, Porter and Juli explore alternate facts, rules, and changing protocols to the extreme.

“Porter and Juli, both long-time performers who skillfully mix movement, theater and comedy...” —Dancelog.nyc
