American Dance Guild 2008 Performance Festival

After great enthusiasm and sold out performances at our Festival in 2007, the American Dance Guild continues its mission of serving artists and audiences. We invite applications from contemporary dance artists of diverse backgrounds and ages throughout the United States and Internationally for our 2008 Performance Festival at Dance New Amsterdam (www.dnadance.org ) in New York City. Four different programs will be presented during the festival on Sept. 11 – 13 at 8:00pm and Sunday, Sept. 14 at 2:00pm.
The American Dance Guild, formed in 1956 in NYC, is the oldest dance service organization in the United States. The Guild is dedicated to documenting the the range and diversity of expression in current dance art practice and how it interfaces with our historical modern dance roots. Last year featured work by Mary Anthony and Merce Cunningham. This year we will feature a work by Anna Sokolow as well as another leading choreographer tbd.
To apply please submit the following:
§ DVD or VHS Video of choreographic work – time limit: 3-12 minutes
§ Written Description of work including credits (# of dancers, music, etc.) and running time
§ Contact information and short biography of choreographer
§ 1 or 2 publicity photos (optional but recommended)
§ SASE if you want your work returned
§ 0.00 adjudication fee per submitted work (non-refundable, payable to American Dance Guild)
Please note: The video you submit must be the same piece you intend to perform.

PLEASE NOTE:
1) All choreographers who are chosen to perform their work in the Festival must be current members of the American Dance Guild; however you are not required to be a member to apply. Non-members are encouraged to apply. You may join or renew your membership by sending in a check (payable to American Dance Guild) with your festival application OR online through the website. The 0 adjudication fee must accompany your submission.
2) Since each program will include 8-9 different pieces the tech requirements must be kept to a minimum. If you want to include film or video you must bring your own equipment and be able to set it up within the allotted tech time.
3) There are no stipends available from ADG for participation in this Festival.
