Chez Bushwick presents performances by four artists who are completing a three-month residency at Chez Bushwick studio. This event features works by Laurel Atwell, Zavé Martohardjono, Alina Ruiz Folini, and Lily Bo Shapiro.

Laurel Atwell: Necessary Friend
The current state of “Necessary Friend” is that of transformation; a slow sophistication of freedom, memory, and choice.

Zavé Martohardjono: GENERAL DYNAMICS
Welcome to 2015. Your world is digitally generated, politically extremist, resource-depleted, selfie-obsessed, twerk-a-licious, and pushing at the margins of community sanity. Some might even say we no longer await the apocalypse.

Alina Ruiz Folini: (It is) supposed that
What is the dance of a body that is completely tired, confused and outside itself?

Lily Bo Shapiro: a farther aspect
Forming from fixation, this is a body on display aware of its position of display. It requests participatory spectatorship. “a farther aspect” wants to produce a landscape of reading and recognition inclusive of slippage, elision, fantasy, spectacle, collapse, and suggestion.
