DAYS GO BY
Winter Garden at Brookfield Place
October 3 – October 6 2019

You are carrying too many bags.
You still can’t find your chap stick. You think you can get it all done.
You can’t seem to end a conversation. You think you see someone you know. You just need a second.

The disregarded moments add up into the day.
And by the end, there’s a gulf between what we set out to do and what the day has become.

Days Go By features a large ensemble cast of dancers, actors, musicians, and non- performers that attend to the otherwise lost moments in our days. The cast includes some of the company’s favorite performers, such as actor/comedian Danny Pudi (Community), dancer Ida Saki (upcoming film of Cats), actor Stephanie Wright Thompson (The Mad Ones), and Pamela Jong, a doctor and dancer from San Diego. “The cast for this is unlike anything we’ve done before. The performers come from all different backgrounds—music, comedy, theater, and dance. We’re excited for the audience to discover this ensemble and the stories we’re creating together amidst the teeming day to day life at Brookfield Place,” says Robbie Saenz de Viteri, Monica’s collaborator.

The audience will wear headphones (provided with free admission) and sit on the steps of the public atrium of Brookfield Place. This large-scale, site-specific work will embed performers throughout the public space, transforming it into a symphony of movement and interactions that reveals the depths of our ideals and the hilarious heartbreak that sets in as the clock winds through our days. Set to a soundtrack of forgotten tracks and one hit wonders Days Go By blurs reality with the theatrical and places big hearted dancing alongside the everyday comings and goings of life in a city. This world premiere performance asks the audience to look closer at the heart warming, pain staking, heroic events happening to and around us each and everyday.

“Brookfield Place is delighted to commission Monica Bill Barnes & Company for this world premiere performance,” said Elysa Marden, Vice President, Arts Brookfield. “Days Go By will bring the beauty of dance to the hustle and bustle of our visitors’ everyday lives and offer a one-of-a-kind experience for everyone passing through.”

Days Go By will take place during public hours starting at 7 p.m. Days Go By begins October 3rd and runs through October 6th. Admission is FREE on a first come first serve basis. Audiences are encouraged to arrive at 6:30 p.m. to ensure admission. Headphones provided with entry.
