Dada Masilo/The Dance Factory at The Joyce
Company:
Dada Masilo/The Dance Factory
Award-winning South African choreographer Dada Masilo presents a torrid retelling of the tragic-romantic ballet, Giselle. By setting the work in rural South Africa, Masilo imbues this version with African rituals and ceremonies as she highlights the themes of betrayal, heartbreak, grief, and revenge present in the classic tale. Giselle is performed by twelve dynamic dancers and is set to an original score by South African composer Phillip Miller.
Program contains nudity.
