Dance New Amsterdam
This Week In the Studios: Gaga and Trisha Brown, Dance for DNA Day and much more!
Gaga Classes at DNA The language of Gaga originated from the belief in the healing, dynamic, ever-changing power of movement. Gaga has two tracks: Gaga/dancer, which is the daily training of Batsheva Dance Company members, now taught also for other dancers in Israel and abroad Gaga/people, open to the public and available for anyone at any age, without the necessity of previous experience. Gaga is a movement language which Ohad Naharin developed over the course of many years and which is applied in daily practice and exercises by the Batsheva Dance Company members. The Gaga/people track was developed for everyone and at every age, and it is studied by an increasing number of people at the Suzanne Dellal Centre, in Jerusalem, and in other locations in Israel and New York.
Gaga/people - Thursdays from 8:00 - 9:00pm Gaga/dancer - Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:45 - 7:00pm

FREE Class Friday for Members
October 12 3:00 - 4:30pm Uncover to Create
In this class, students will enter an open dialogue with themselves and others about where they get stuck. They will look at their postural tendencies as a reflection of deeper dynamics, and have a chance to unravel unhealthy habits through movement, drawing, writing and reflection. Yoga-based alignment exercises will help to open the body and prime students for honest expression. They'll turn improvisation into informed choices, funneling chaos into a unified creative experience. Come prepared to laugh at yourself, and to support others in full presence to get jiggy with their humanity.
Class is FREE for DNA Members and 6.50 for nonmembers. More information can be found here.

If you come to DNA every day for your favorite morning class, or if you've stopped by once or twice for your nighttime hip hop fix, you have been a huge part of why DNA has been alive for the past 28 years. Today, we are asking to see you all in the space at once - from the loyal class taker to the interested prospective student. The easiest way to make an impact at DNA (and to get something amazing in return) is to simply take a class!

Simonson Method of Teacher Training
October 28 - November 18
Applications are still being accepted!
Lynn Simonson created the Simonson Technique more than 35 years ago when she began teaching individuals with previous injuries and/or alignment problems. The development of the technique came through anatomically studying the limitations and possibilities of each student's body. In Simonson Technique, dancers work within their natural turnout line without forcing their range of joint motion or hyper-extending their knees. Lynn's goal was to create an intelligent and logical way to prepare the body for dance without injury.
