JAWOLE'S IN NEW YORK:
UBW's fabulous Founding Artistic Director, Jawole Zollar, splits her time between New York and Florida, where's she's also the Nancy Smith Fichter Professor of Dance and Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor at Florida State University. Now she's back in town, so take advantage of these amazing opportunities to learn from the master herself!
Contemporary Workshops at Cumbe:
2 classes left! Come sweat your technique with our Bessie Award-winning founder Jawole Zollar and company members at Cumbe. This contemporary dance series is geared towards pre/professional dancers and features in-depth exploration of breath, weight, embodied call and response, and polyrhythm. See ya there!

Dance with UBW this weekend!
We are thrilled that Jawole is one of the Grand Marshals for the 2014 Dance Parade! Of course UBW is going to REPRESENT, so join us for the parade and bring your friends and family. We'll be doing simple and fun line dances like The Wobble and Cupid Shuffle, so folks of all ages and abilities can join. This is all FREE! Come to our Dance Parade Participant Meeting on May 15th so Jawole can share her plan with everyone. Then, we'll dance it out in the parade on the 17th!

Dancing While Black + Being Bushified!
Dancing While Black has teamed up with UBW's Being Bushified series to bring you an exciting weekend of events. On Friday, May 30 come hear UBW Founder Jawole Zollar discuss Collectivism and Black Aesthetics. On Saturday, May 31, take Jawole's How We Got To the Funk master class. Both days, stay for Dancing While Black: Collective(s) Action, an evening of performance by Rashida Bumbray/Dance Diaspora Collective, Ebony Golden/Betty's Daughter Arts Collaborative and Adia Whitaker/Ase Dance Theatre Collective. This is sure to be a weekend you won't forget!

Tisch Summer Dance Festival
Immerse yourself in UBW's signature style! This technique and repertory intensive is open to ALL intermediate/advanced dancers, not just NYU students. We are on the Residency II roster with Ronald K. Brown/Evidence and Sidra Bell Dance New York. In addition to taking class and learning company rep, participants will have opportunities to observe open rehearsals, showings of works-in-progress, and public performances. Space is limited; don't miss out!
