Sarah Lawrence College Dance/Movement Therapy Program Granted Candidacy Status
The American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) has granted Sarah Lawrence College candidacy status as an approved graduate program in Dance/Movement Therapy.
Candidacy status was granted in January after an ADTA review established that the College had demonstrated concerted efforts to meet the necessary requirements. The College has cleared one of the first major milestones towards full accreditation by the ADTA.
To complete this step Sarah Lawrence submitted syllabi for the required curriculum, bios of the first year faculty and admission information of the inaugural class. In accordance with the multi-year approval process, the College will continue to provide the ADTA updates about second year curriculum, internship and fieldwork sites, and student progression. Graduates of approved programs meet all professional requirements for the Registered Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT) credential.
”Sarah Lawrence is pleased to have met the requirements for Candidacy, and is committed to completing the approval process,” said Susan Guma, Dean of Graduate Studies.
