Cleaner explores the similarities in the physical and economic situation of dance artists and domestic workers. Female bodies caught in literal and abstracted cleaning, and exercises in repetition and duration bring their experience to the stage. In so doing, Cleaner aims to challenge the isolation of workers and defend the value of their labor.
The making of Cleaner was supported in part by a 2012 NYLA Fresh Tracks Residency and by a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant
This evening will be shared with Mariana Valencia.
The Dixon Place Lounge is open before, during, and after the show. Proceeds directly support Dixon Place’s artists and mission.
