"We are ultimately striving to belong over and over again throughout our lives." same SAME, orchestrated by Donna Costello, is a 3-part movement cycle displaying human connections within varied groups as performance--exploring the interplay between an individual's expression and the desire to become part of a larger whole.
Three groups will assemble, collide, and unify to the same structured movement score. Each group, altered in its composure of performers, will inherently respond to the shared movement language differently in its timing, patterning, and execution of the proposed material. Across the cycles, viewers will witness an evolution, as relationships dynamically emerge and transform based on each group’s negotiations in performance.
Placed in a public through-block, with people passing by, staying to witness, and perhaps yearning to belong, the audience becomes an integral element to the work.
Conceived and Directed by Donna Costello; performed by Kelly Bartnik, Julianne Carino, Donna Costello, Maira Duarte, Alessandra Larson (10/25, 1027), Trina Mannino Marýa Wethers, Jessie Winograd, Samsam Yung (10/26); accompained by musicans: Andrew Drury (10/25), Brian McCorkle (10/26), and TBD (10/27).
