About Michael Manswell & Something Positive, Inc.
Something Positive, Inc. is a Brooklyn-based African Caribbean performing arts organization dedicated to the art and culture of the African Diaspora. Something Positive specializes in multi-media performing arts utilizing a unique blend of poetry, storytelling, theater, music and dance. In addition to participating with other community and international organizations in exhibitions, conferences, tours, conventions and various educational programs, Something Positive works in collaboration with several organizations including Circuit Productions, Caribbean Cultural Center, American Museum of Natural History, Henry Street Settlement Theater and the West Indian American Day Carnival Association.

Founded and directed by the late Cheryl Byron, the ensemble along with junior, adult, and seniors is comprised of dancers, singers, and musicians. The company, currently under the Artistic Direction of Michael Manswell, has been performing for more than a decade both nationally and internationally. Their repertoire of original material has been performed at Metropolitan Museum of Art, Cooper Hewitt Museum, Jamaica Arts Center, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Neuberger Museum, as well as churches, colleges, festivals, clubs, and street carnivals. Continuing to gather resources in an effort to institutionalize the artistic work of the African, American and Caribbean collective, Something Positive believes that culture is our finest resource “ and have been continuously praised for “incorporating culture and education with entertainment.”
