About This Show
Fast Forward provides opportunities for choreographers working in all dance forms to workshop 25 – 35 min pieces on a shared bill curated around a theme.
In January, Fast Forward will explore the theme of ‘‘pure emotion.’’ Autumn Kioti & Katy Gunn will present Whispering Voices. Shauna Sorensen & dancers will present Circular Shift.
Whispering Voices (Autumn Kioti & Katy Gunn)
Whispering Voices is a participatory performance lead by co-mingling personalities existing within the consciousness of one being. A ritual journey through the joy, suffering, conflict & surrender that comes with being human, the performers beckon audience members to share their secrets, burdens & wishes via safe passage.
The music from Whispering Voices was created by songwriter & producer Katy Gunn for choreographed performance with interdisciplinary artist & performer Autumn Kioti. Sounds were created using Katy’s voice & body, further manipulated via techniques she developed in Ableton Live to create full song compositions. The music is intended to reflect the themes expressed in Whispering Voices: the inner-connectedness of human beings & a desire to connect to the elusive source that binds us all.
Circular Shift (Shauna Sorensen & dancers)
Circular Shift examines of life after loss. The combination of music & movement creates a movement ‘‘mantra’’ or prayer, that shows how the circular pattern of life keeps going regardless of internal or external shifts.
