The Fini International Dance Awards & Gala Performance celebrates its 16th edition August 30, 8 PM, at the Ailey Citigroup Theater.
As always, the event is presented in a spirit of exchange and collaboration between U.S. and Italian artists. The line-up of performers includes members of the Martha Graham Dance Company, Graham2, Ballet Eloelle Grandiva, Dzul Dance Company, a dramatic ballet by Mirko Giordano, and much more. Antonio Fini and guest host, Milan's Tabata Caldironi, will also present awards. Michael Mao, founder/director of Michael Mao Dance, will enjoy a double celebration when he receives the Fini Lifetime Achievement Award as well as his 80th birthday; Leslie Andrea Williams, a principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company, will be awarded the Extraordinary Dance Award and will also perform Spectre from Graham's Chronicle; and Rising Star Awards will go to Itzkan Barbosa Dzul of BalletX and Giuliano Ruocco, current member of the Milwaukee Ballet.
