MATTHEW WESTERBY COMPANY

Matthew Westerby Company presents its first annual New York City season at the historic Speyer Hall at University Settlement, April 15 & 16, 2011, at 8 pm.
Five works created by artistic director Matthew Westerby, including one World Premiere and two New York premieres, will be presented. Previously described as making dance work “that possesses an irresistible force,” (Ben Felsenburg, Resolution! Review), Westerby blends athleticism, musicality and a dedication to spatial design within his work that reveals both traditional and innovative approaches to choreography. The company includes Dylan Baker, Mandy Chan, Hannah Marie Corbin, Amanda Gavan, Alessandra Larson, Kristin Licata, and Bafana Matea. Designers and collaborators include Mike Riggs (lighting), Mary Hunt (costume) and Amanda Matea (costume).

Matthew Westerby has been making work in London and New York since 2000, and formed Matthew Westerby Company in 2008 with the aim of combining access to high quality arts education with the performance of innovative yet accessible contemporary dance works.
