Gibney Dance—Digital Technology Initiative: Digital Technology Professional Series

Company:
Gibney Dance
Digital technology is a powerful force shaping the performing arts.
Gibney Dance’s new Digital Technology Initiative seeks to empower every artist within its facilities to create and disseminate high quality digital content by providing ready access to services, hardware, and software.
The Center boasts a unique digital “skeleton” to enable limitless creation:
- Eight technologically-equipped Smart Studios
- A Digital Technology Workroom outfitted with computers for artists’ use
- A sound-proof recording studio
- Mobile cameras, projectors and other equipment for use throughout the building
The Digital Technology Initiative brings these resources to life by offering full service support and programming to help artists achieve the fullest vision of their work. The Digital Technology Initiative is not a production house, but a program seeking to empower artists to take the tools of digital creation into their own hands.
Support will be offered through a monthly professional class series, weekly classes for artists seeking to learn the basics, and ongoing one-on-one consultations with Gibney Dance’s Digital Technology Work Team. Tech experts and tech-savvy dance artists, coined “Art-to-Tech Connectors,” will be deployed throughout the studios and performance spaces to infuse technology into every aspect of the creative and performative process. All activities, services and equipment will be free and available to all working in the Center.
