Sapphire Chronicles
Sapphire Chronicles are a series of dance-inspired short stories pushing visceral, super-sonic modalities into literary fantasies. It shares the journey of Sapphire, a time traveling golden goddess moving through non-linear moments and memories. Told through an Afro-futuristic lens, these stories display humanity canvassed in an evolving constellation of Black feminine identitiy. It pulsates through the objectified, the dehumanized, the powerful, and the magical. Sapphire is a reflection to see you and see through you...a vessel of celestial intimacy, love, ferocity, grief, and audacity.

About Melanie Greene
MELANIE GREENE is a choreographer, performer, writer, and organizer. She is no stranger to swirling on the edge of impossible, and swimming in the sea of the minority. Performing and sharing work throughout the U.S. and abroad, this southern belle turned Brooklynite holds a special place in her heart for biscuits, country ham, and collard greens. Living Gallery, curated by Eva Yaa Asantewaa and normally produced in the Gibney Gallery, presents live performance of storytelling, monologues, spoken word, stand-up, or creative talks. Each performance – free and open to the public – runs 30-45 minutes, traditionally scheduled within the hour before a dance concert presented in Gibney's Theater. Due to COVID-19, Living Galleries for the fall season will happen on Zoom.
