"Hagoromo" In The Eyes of Its Artists
The Barnard College Department of Dance welcomes renowned performer and Lida Orzeck '68 Distinguished Artist-in-Residence Wendy Whelan along with the creative team of Hagoromo to reflect on the making of this stunningly reimagined Japanese Noh classic, which recently premiered at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. With an original score by Nathan Davis, performed by the International Contemporary Ensemble and Brooklyn Youth Chorus, and starring dance icons and former New York City Ballet principals Wendy Whelan and Jock Soto, Hagoromo merges genres to present a new, multidisciplinary work of dance-theater. Introduction by Lida Orzeck, and moderated by Katie Glasner, co-chair of the Barnard Department of Dance. For more information, visit barnard.edu/events.
