Hi Artist and Airbnb Experiences Present
Brooklyn Speakeasy Dance Show

October 16 at 61 Local

New York, NY, October 4, 2019 – Contemporary dance event company Hi Artist continues their monthly event series in the private loft of the beloved Brooklyn establishment 61 Local, presented in partnership with Airbnb Experiences.

The October 16 event includes a new duet by Hollis Bartlett (current company member with Doug Varone and Dancers) and Nattie Trogdon, who are partners both in life and dance. A classic dance world romance, the pair met at a Doug Varone audition and got engaged at Bates Dance Festival. The program also includes an Urban Indian solo by Ishita Mili of IMGE Dance, an in progress solo by jess pretty, a new original work performed and choreographed by Trisha Brown Dance Company’s Oluwadamilare Ayorinde, and other yet to be announced artists.

Hailed by Gothamist as one of “The Best Things To Do In NYC,” Hi Artist events combine an intimate dance performance with a lively gathering to deliver a “once in a lifetime experience” featuring “some of the most creative [dancers] in the country” (Airbnb). Guests enter the private loft of 61 Local—referred to by Time Out New York as the “new nerve center” of Brooklyn’s brew scene—through a discreet back door, transporting them to a speakeasy dance theater where everyone has a front row seat. Hi Artist founders Elizabeth Cooke and Xenia Mansour (who are also local dancers) emcee the evening, providing additional context about the artists and sharing untold stories behind the dance pieces being shown. Intimacy reigns supreme: events end with the performers joining the audience for drinks and conversation, giving guests the unique opportunity to meet and mingle with the artists after the show.

“In this modern world of infinite screens, our fans have gushed about the intimacy and genuine human connection inherent in our front-row dance experience,” said Hi Artist Founder Elizabeth Cooke. “Lucky for us, we love sharing the talents of beautiful local dancers with them.”
