Alessandra Belloni presents her all-woman percussion ensemble Daughters of Cybele in "Honoring the Sea Goddess," with guest percussionists from Venice, Serena Davini and Kikki delli Santi, Professor of Percussion at Venice Conservatory. Dancers are Caterina Rago, Francesca Silvano and Danielle Hartman, performing traditional ritual dance.
"Honoring the Sea Goddess" pays tribute to the tradition in both Southern Italy (where the sea goddess is called the Black Madonna of the Sea) and Brazil (where she is called Yemanja).
A one performance only on Wednesday November 20 at DROM, 85 Avenue A in the East Village. Doors open at 9 PM; performance begins at 9:30 PM.
