JACOB’S PILLOW DANCE FESTIVAL 2017 SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

What:            Jacob’s Pillow Dance, home to the longest-running international dance festival in the U.S., is accepting applications for its 2017 Summer Internship Program. More than 30 interns from around the world are selected, following a competitive application review and interview process, to help produce the field’s most comprehensive and engaging festival of dance.

The Intern Program provides outstanding on-the-job training in 14 areas of arts administration, documentation, and production.

Internships are available in Archives/Engagement, Community Engagement, Company Management, Development/Individuals, Development/Institutional, Education, House Management, Graphic Design/Digital Media, Patron Services, Photography, Press/Editorial, Production, Video Documentation, and more.

Interns are provided with on-campus housing and dining; staff-led seminars, training, and mentoring; free access to performances and dance classes; and a $1,500 stipend. Up to eighteen college credits can be provided to Jacob’s Pillow registrants from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Jacob’s Pillow also works with students completing internships as part of their university work-study, independent study, and cooperative learning programs; and with international students or young professionals seeking U.S. internships.

Internship opportunities are also available in the Fall, Winter, and Spring, which are tailored to an intern's specific needs, interests, hours, and can vary in duration.

Alumni of the program have gone on to work at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, Baryshnikov Arts Center, Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Boston Ballet, The Brookings Institution, Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv, Dance Magazine, Dance/USA, Glimmerglass Festival, The Howard Gilman Foundation, Jacob’s Pillow Dance, The Joyce Theater, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, MASS MoCA, The Metropolitan Opera, Merce Cunningham Dance Company/Merce Cunningham Trust, New York Live Arts, New York Philharmonic, The New York Public Library, The New York Times, Spoleto Festival USA, Standard & Poor’s, Sundance Film Festival/Sundance Institute, and Williams College, among others.

 

When:            The 2017 Summer Intern Program runs May 23 to August 31.

 

Where:          Jacob’s Pillow is located in Becket, Massachusetts; one hour from Albany, two and a half hours from Boston, and less than three hours from New York City.
