JACOB’S PILLOW DANCE FESTIVAL HOSTS ITS ANNUAL
WEEKEND OUT JULY 3 - 5
What: Each season, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival celebrates its LGBTQ history, connections, and community with an annual Weekend OUT. In 2015, Weekend OUT will take place Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5.
Highlights include: Ticketed performances including tap stars Dorrance Dance with legendary singer/songwriter Toshi Reagon and her band BIGLovely, as well as Los Angeles-based dance company BODYTRAFFIC. Dorrance Dance performances take place Friday, July 3 at 8pm; Saturday, July 4 at 2pm and 8pm; and Sunday, July 5 at 2pm. BODYTRAFFIC performances take place Friday, July 3 at 8:15pm; Saturday, July 4 at 2:15pm and 8:15pm; and Sunday July 5 at 2:15pm. Tickets $35 - $69.
A free PillowTalk with New York City Ballet dancer turned photographer Kyle Froman, Saturday, July 4 at 4pm. Froman has photographed ballet to Broadway to fashion, and his season-long photography exhibit KYLE FROMAN: BODIES / BUILDINGS is currently on display in the Ted Shawn Theatre lobby at the Pillow.
A July 4th dance party following the evening performances. Berkshire DJ, DJ BFG, spins live at this Weekend OUT dance party, after the Dorrance Dance and BODYTRAFFIC performances are complete. All July 4th ticket holders get free access to the party.
A free Ted Shawn and His Men Dancers tour with Director of Preservation Norton Owen, Sunday, July 5 at noon. This personal tour of the Pillow highlights the Festival's early years and the heyday of modern dance pioneer Ted Shawn and his company of Men Dancers
A Blake’s Barn screening of Born to Fly, a new dance documentary about extreme daredevil choreographer Elizabeth Streb, Sunday, July 5 at 4:30pm. Streb herself will join the screening, and will participate in a Q&A after the film. Tickets $10.
