Kara Jhalak Miller and Jhalak Dance Company offer a movement based media art workshop to explore their improvisational and choreographic creative process of making the live performance installation "What is Revealed" and engaging with Alberte Bernier’s visual art painting series and exhibit “Leak.” The workshop will take place in the gallery. Wear comfortable clothes to move in. Open to all dance levels from beginner to advanced.
Jhalak Dance Company specializes in dance performance, choreography, and improvisational collaborative participatory art-making processes. With a background in contemporary dance and movement media art, Jhalak Dance draws from other forms of art, including live, digital, and network performance, installation, music, video, and more. Dance Company Members include dancers Sami L.A. Akuna, Tina Chan, Mignon Gillen, Cy Higashi, Lance Sabado, Terry Slaughter, Katelyn Wyatt, and, movement based media artist Larry Asakawa.
