Johanna Meyer presents "piece.piece" at Gibney Dance
Wednesday, September 9 – Saturday, September 12 at 7:30 pm
Friday, September 11 & Saturday, September 12 at 9:00 pm
Agnes Varis Performance Lab
New York-based choreographer/performer Johanna S. Meyer presents piece.piece, her most recent evening-length show. Delicate and fragile, this dance presents the female body in ritual and entertainment, and in past, present, and future landscapes. Piece.piece explores how the drawn figure has been captured in movement from pre-historic cave drawings to modern comic books. Performed by six dancers—Hadley Smith, Angie Pittman, Jennifer Allen, Emily bock, Lailye Weidman, and Angelica Soledad—and with sound design by Jeff Zahos, the dance has been configured for the unique space of the Agnes Varis Performance Lab.
