The World Premiere of Leading Edge Disturbances, with music composed by Nathaniel Bartlett, is an inquiry into mathematical, scientific and social concepts, yielding a kaleidoscopic world of fractured symmetry. Inspired by complex motion patterns created by the disturbance of still fluid when the leading edge of an object moves through it, this piece utilizes computer systems to electronically create layers of complexity out of the sounds of a single marimba. C. Finley has printed 25 original drawings on fabric to be fashioned by designer Athan Vennell into unique costumes that mirror the dancers’ coupling movements within the piece.  Each part of this collaboration reinforces the choreographic concept of creating additional layers of movement. The unique experience of viewing drawings on moving bodies extends, displays and animates the visual art

A collaborative, interdisciplinary dance/film, Finite & Infinite Games is a celebration of unity, color and variety – a riot of pure movement. The musical selections feature the singular voice of the saxophone as representative of the human voice. Filmed at Judson Memorial Church, the piece will be performed live at Danspace Project. Based on philosopher James P. Carse’s “Finite and Infinite Games: A Vision of Life as Play and Possibility.” The nine dances by choreographer Katherine Helen Fisher explore the individual’s role within community. Visual artist C. Finley created the 48'x12' non-repetitive geometric backdrop as a comparative replication of the dance. Costumes designed by Gai Mattiolo. Film by RJ Muna. The project was envisioned by producer/director and thisiswater Productions founder Michael Robinson.
