VALENTINA KOZLOVA TO DANCE 'DYING SWAN' AS A TRIBUTE TO PLIZETSKAYA
AT THE VKIBC GALA PERFORMANCE, SATURDAY MAY 30, 7 PM
The Kozlova International Ballet Competition will conclude on Saturday May 30th with
the Awards Announcements at 6 PM,
followed by a performance at 7 PM, which will feature the dancers who have received company contracts, scholarships, and medals, along with other outstanding entrants.
All events take place at Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway (at 95th Street).
Kozlova will pay homage to Maya Plizetskaya, prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Ballet when Kozlova was a student at the Bolshoi Ballet School, with a performance of "The Dying Swan." Kozlova has long revered the great ballerina; her first appearance on the Bolshoi stage as a student, in fact, was in a production of "Don Quixote," which starred Plizetskaya as Kitri.
