LARRY FULLER – HIGH FLYING ADORED!

Monday, October 17th, 2016 at 7pm

St. Luke’s Theater, 308 West 46th St., NYC

Featuring performances by Loni Ackerman and other cast members of Larry Fuller’s groundbreaking Broadway shows -- and a gaggle of gypsies to discuss his Life and Legacy

Dancers Over 40 honors director/choreographer Larry Fuller, who is not only a DO40 Advisory Board Member, but is currently alive and kicking!  This is the first panel & performance DO40 has presented of a living, breathing, creative artist!  And we are thrilled that he will be there to share the love in the theater at St. Luke’s with all of his friends, family and peers.

Fuller’s Broadway choreographic works include Evita, Sweeney Todd, On the Twentieth Century, Merrily We Roll Along and A Doll’s Life. For Evita, Larry received a Tony Award nomination for outstanding choreography, a Los Angeles Drama Critics Award for Distinguished Choreography, and two New York Critics Circle Awards for his work on Sweeney Todd and Evita and a New York Television Academy Award for choreographing Our American Musical Heritage series on WCBS-TV. He has twice staged and choreographed both the Tony Awards and the Emmy Awards, which were internationally telecast. Larry’s credits also include the musical staging for the first national tour of Jekyll and Hyde, directing and choreographing three national tours of Evita, the world premiere of J.F.K.- A Musical Drama and On Your Toes with the Stuttgart Ballet.  And Fuller has lent his choreographic talents to DO40, creating dances for our members in three DO40 concerts over the past six years.

Loni Ackerman will recreate the iconic “Buenos Aires” number from Evita, and special guests and surprises will abound.  There will be rare video footage, video tributes and more to round out the evening.

Dancers Over 40 is an all-volunteer, membership-driven non-profit arts organization dedicated to preserving the History, Legacy and Lives of our mature creative community, while sharing the knowledge with the younger generation just beginning their careers. The event will be videotaped and donated to the Jerome Robbins Dance Collection at Lincoln Center’s Library for the Performing Arts.
