LEA VED || THE PLAYGROUND NYC
THE PLAYGROUND NYC
Gibney Dance: Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center, 280 Broadway NYC
Entrance 53A Chambers
The Playground NYC allows dancers to experience various choreographic styles and ideas, engage with a new community of dancers, and gather resourceful information and inspiration from the array of choreographers involved. In turn, established choreographers are paid for their creative investigations, are given free space to explore new movement with professional dancers, and are provided with the opportunity to establish relationships with new dancers and fellow choreographers.
Lea Ved is a dance artist, teacher, creator, and collaborator from the USA. Since earning her BFA from The Juilliard School, she has danced with RUBBERBANDance Group, The Royal Swedish Ballet, and is now with Nederlands Dans Theater 1. Lea maintains close ties to dance communities across the US and Canada, teaching for both young dancers and professionals alike. She has worked closely with Victor Quijada, teaching the RUBBERBANDance Method and assisting with directing and staging repertory at Springboard Danse Montreal, USC Kaufman School of Dance, North Carolina School of the Arts, and Domaine Forget. Lea has also shared workshops at creative platforms of The Playground in NYC, and No)One. Art House in LA. Her large interest in creation and exploration brought her the opportunity to choreograph and collaborate with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani in 2018, as well as be involved in a number of film and collaborative projects of her own initiative. Lea has created with Sharon Eyal, Hofesh Shechter, soon Crystal Pite, and performed the role of "Julia" in Mats Ek's 'Julia and Romeo'.
