The Playground NYC, in partnership with Gibney, is offering Online Studio, digital dance space. Join us, wherever you are for LIVE online classes with teaching artists in New York City and around the world. Let’s keep moving together and finding new ways to connect. Classes are open to movers of all levels!
Classes will be streamed live via ZOOM. Participants must pre-register for class and create a (free) ZOOM account to join. Registration will close 20 minutes before the class time. Fifteen minutes before class, you will receive an email with the ZOOM link.

Class Description:
Hyper-dynamic movement defined by musicality and rhythm allows the body to experience the challenges and sensations of various qualities. Grounded in floorwork and highly physical phrase work this technique places emphasis on momentum and attack of the movement.
Bio:
LAJAMARTIN physical dance theatre is a vessel for live performance. Co-founded in 2017 by Laja Field (Salt Lake City, UT) and Martin Durov (Slovakia) the duo premiered their first work Tatry at the DANCE NOW Joe’s Pub Festival in NYC and took the piece to Circulate at Newcastle College in England later that year. Their latest duet, Pinot Noir, commissioned by Gibney Dance Company, premiered at the Curated series in NYC 2019 and was presented again by b12 festival, Berlin, Šibenik Dance Festival, Croatia and Prisma Festival, Panama. Through the years LAJAMARTIN has been commissioned to create work for the Anton Bruckner Privat Universität in Linz, Austria, the J.L Bella Conservatory in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, Brigham Young University’s performing company CDT, the inaugural festival LINK by SALT contemporary dance, BRINE in SLC and most recently for SALT Pro. LAJAMARTIN has also performed work at the SouthSide Arts and Music Festival in Steelstacks, PA, Wesfest NYC, Austin Dance Festival and GIF 4 in Brussels. LAJAMARTIN has had the pleasure of teaching at Gibney Dance Center, NYU Tisch, CalArts, Oberlin College, the University of Utah, BYU, CSULB, UCLA, DeSales University, Muhlenberg College, Early Mosley’s Institute of the Arts, Newcastle College and Dance City, England, Contemporary Prostor Pro Tanec, Prague, the private Conservatory in Liptovsky Hradok, Slovakia, Bad Lemons in Munich, Anton Bruckner Privat Universität, Dance Academy Russia, Trois C-L in Luxembourg, Johannes Wieland’s company in Staatstheater Kassel and the b12 festival in Berlin.
