Laura Ward/Octavia Cup Dance Theatre + Eidolon Ballet

Laura Ward/Octavia Cup Dance Theatre + Eidolon Ballet

Dates:

Monday, June 3, 2013 - 5:55pm

Performance at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center on June 13 and 15, 2013

Laura Ward/Octavia Cup Dance Theatre and Eidolon Ballet will be performing at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center on June 13 and 15, 2013. The show includes young dancers from Long Island City School of Ballet.

The evening show, June 13th and 15th at 8pm, “Dances from the Turn of the Century,” revisits Octavia Cup’s best known works en pointe. The show features the mysterious environmental hit "Warp Lake," inspired by the film Silent Running, and the farcical “White,” from the acclaimed show “Enredaderas,” a satirical poke at the values of white picket fence America. Eidolon ballet will perform “Boxes of Sonifericity.”

The matinee, June 15th at 4pm, “Candy Warhol and the Nest of Troubles,” is a madcap escapade in a magical land. The show features an original score by French composer, Michel Ayello, text from Alberto Zayden, and interactive sets and props by Judy Thomas. This show is perfect for children of any age. “Warp Lake” and “Boxes of Sonifericity” are also on this program.

Laura Ward/Octavia Cup Dance Theatre (www.octaviacup.org, 646.241.8254) was founded in 1998 and has been making slightly twisted expressionistic dance theatre en pointe ever since. Eidolon Ballet (www.eidolonballet.org), led by Artistic Director Melanie Cortier, is a chamber-sized contemporary ballet company created in 1999 with a reputation for developing accessible, unorthodox, and fun-loving forms of dance.
