In this shared performance, alight dance theater, DancEthos and Glade Dance Collective present multi-media pieces that compellingly respond to issues of our time. Without a voice, how do you say I love you? alight dance theater's Speechless weaves together dance, live music and videotaped interviews to tell the story of four very different families and their common struggle to find a voice for their special needs child who cannot communicate through verbal language. Unsung, choreographed by DancEthos Artistic Director Tiffany Haughn, tells the story of war from the soldiers' perspective. Inspired by letters and interviews of soldiers from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, the work depicts the many different aspects of war from tragedy and loss to self sacrifice and the triumph of the human spirit. In Atlas Romp, Glade Dance Collective asks, "What music moves a people?" The piece is a celebration of a day in the life on H Street NE, from the long-established residents and business owners, to the artists who bring a new energy that converges at the Atlas Performing Arts Center.
